WISDOM IN LOVE PART II

Wisdom is a spirit
Isaiah 11:2 (NIV)
“The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord”
▫ Wisdom comes from the Spirit of God
▫ It is not natural, it is divine
▫ It must be received, not just learned

1. Why Wisdom is Characterized as a Woman
Why wisdom is characterized as a woman:
-You search for it as a man pursues a woman, you have to go for it
– You need to desire it
▫ Wisdom requires pursuit
▫ It is intentional, not accidental
▫ Desire determines access

2. Asking for Wisdom

James 1:5 (NIV)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
▫ God is the source of wisdom
▫ He gives freely without judgment
▫ Asking is key to receiving

3. The Enduring Love of God
Psalms 136:1 (NIV)
“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.”
God’s mercy to us is as a result of His love first.
Enduring love means:
▫ It endures when it is beaten, pressed, and even hurt
▫ It stays despite all

▫ God’s love is constant and unchanging
▫ His mercy flows from His love
▫ True love remains under pressure

4. Our Response to That Love
We respond to that love by loving Him back so much that we cannot even think of hurting Him.
Understanding God’s love makes us not run away from Him even when we sin.
Ephesians 2:4 – 5 (NKJV)
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”
▫ Love produces devotion
▫ Understanding love removes fear
▫ Grace keeps us close to God

5. Consistency in Our Love
Hosea 6:4 (NIV)
“What can I do with you, Ephraim? What can I do with you, Judah? Your love is like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears.”
Hosea 6:6 (NLT)
“I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.”
Our love for God should be consistent; it should not be as inconsistent as the morning dew.
▫ God desires consistency, not moments
▫ Relationship over routine
▫ Love should not fade with time

6. The Image We Are Becoming
Desire to know the image you are becoming when you are transformed. Part of that image is God’s character to endure in love.

2 Timothy 2:11–13 (NLT)
“This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.”
▫ Transformation reveals God’s nature in us
▫ Endurance is part of our identity
▫ God remains faithful regardless

Reflection
Lord, help me to pursue wisdom and remain consistent in love, reflecting Your nature in all I do.
