Men’s week: AUTHENTIC IDENTITY
Theme verse: 2nd Corinthians 12:1-9
Tuesday lunch hour by Collins Akolo
- Authentic identity – Something that is supported by credible evidence to be what it claims to be.
- Identity – Unique sets of physical traits, behavioural characteristics, personality, beliefs and experiences that define who a person or group is.
~ 2 Corinthians 11:18 NIV
[18] Since many are boasting in the way the world does, I too will boast.
~ 2 Corinthians 11:21 NIV
[21] To my shame I admit that we were too weak for that! Whatever anyone else dares to boast about. I am speaking as a fool. I also dare to boast about.
- Paul boasts foolishly about his suffering rather than his status, proving his Authentic identity in Christ.
- That if the world claims that not taking drugs is weakness, then so be it, I am too weak to take drugs, I am too weak to not go to church e.t.c.
~ 2 Corinthians 11:30 NIV
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
- When I am weak, then I am strong.
- Even though others see you as weak, it’s okay, as long as it is for God.
- If you are doing anything for any other reason that is not God, you will end up wrong.
Don’t hide your weaknesses, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
